How it all Began

How it all Began
We started as a home for reptiles who didn’t have one, or needed a new one. From there it was a tomato frog, a crested gecko, turtle, then a tortoise, and our family just kept growing! Then the real story begins, we were given a chameleon. This chameleon had a prolapsed hemipene with gangrene, a fungal infection in his eye, was malnourish
We started as a home for reptiles who didn’t have one, or needed a new one. From there it was a tomato frog, a crested gecko, turtle, then a tortoise, and our family just kept growing! Then the real story begins, we were given a chameleon. This chameleon had a prolapsed hemipene with gangrene, a fungal infection in his eye, was malnourished, and had no name. The next day we dubbed the chameleo, Luke, and he went into emergency surgery to remove his prolapsed hemipene. Luke fought for his life to get better for about six months before losing his fight to kidney and liver failure. The day we chose to put Luke down was the day we created our Facebook Page, Zootown Exotics.

We focus heavily on rescuing exotic household pets that are in need of veterinary assistance, or just can no longer be kept. We work with THE BEST exotic vet in Missoula,MT, Dr. Mark Kleitz at Eastgate Veterinary! Often times some pets find their place here at the Rescue and become a permanent resident or one of our animal ambassadors! Th

Often times some pets find their place here at the Rescue and become a permanent resident or one of our animal ambassadors! The pets that are able to find new homes are able to through our Adoption Application process! If we aren’t rescuing, taking care of the animals, or spending some time outside with the tortoises we are more then likely educating! We offer in house events, out of house events, and birthday parties which feature our animal ambassadors! Each event is unique and you will learn everything you need to know about these wonderful creatures! We are also open by appointment if you’re wanting to just come by and meet the animals!

Currently we are obtaining our 501c3 Non-Profit status to begin the next step of many of bringing the Rescue Zoo to life. At the facility we will have not only the Rescue but a separate Zoo comprised of rescue animals where you can learn each animals story. This is all in the plans for the following years…so stay tuned…and don’t forget to stay exotic!
